Jac is a Data Scientist at OceanMind. He develops algorithms to analyse the behaviour of fishing vessels, and also models the transit efficiency of LNG carriers, coal bulk carriers and oil tankers. Before joining OceanMind, Jac completed a PhD in Computational Geophysics, and then worked as a Research Fellow, combining machine learning with physics to predict how materials behave under extreme conditions. Jac has worked on and taught machine learning and numerical methods for nearly a decade and now applies his knowledge study vessel activity at sea.
