As Fisheries Analyst with OceanMind’s Intelligence and Compliance team, Lois applies satellite vessel tracking and remote sensing data to detect and assess potential IUU fishing activity, producing actionable intelligence that supports partners and enforcement agencies in protecting marine resources. She holds an MSc in Marine Conservation, where her research focused on strengthening conservation management measures (CMMs) for elasmobranchs in IOTC fisheries. Before joining OceanMind, Lois worked as a fisheries consultant across the seafood supply chain – from vessel monitoring and leading on-board observer work in UK trawl and dredge fisheries to processing and export in Pacific tuna fisheries. She has collaborated extensively with governments, NGOs, industry and intergovernmental organisations such as the World Bank and various RFMOs. Having seen first-hand how limited resources can challenge enforcement, Lois is driven to apply data and technology to strengthen compliance and ensure that fisheries regulations deliver real-world impact.
